Well,I seem to have forgot all about the blog ....we are all alive and well! Never a dull moment around here really! Since the last post in JULY Maddie has started school and is doing GREAT! She is catching on quickly with recognizing letters and sounds they make, writing her name, memorizing her scripture verses, etc. Her behaviors for the most part have improved as well, for the most part we only have to tell her something 3 times rather than 10 before she listens, she takes upsets a little better, meltdowns aren't as frequent or as bad and she is actually able to sit still for the most part in church before the kids get called off to children's church (yay!).

Today when I went to pick up Maddie after school in extended care I found her sitting with a teacher crying. Knowing Maddie's dramatic/sensitive personality and the fact that she had a rough weekend with missing Mommy while I was at work I figured that she was just crying because she was missing me and wanted me to get there sooner than later to pick her up. However, that would be to simple for our little drama mamma. She was crying because she got put in time out for the first time ever in extended care because she KISSED A BOY! Yep, you heard it right, she kissed a boy and he was not amuzed! LOL. The "boy" is Mitchell and he is an older boy, Kindergardener! (haha!) Maddie has been "crushing" on him for quite a while, I saw her interupt his playing time once to give him a hug and tell him goodbye and he had the most annoyed look on his face, but Maddie didnt care, she just knew that she wanted to say goodbye to her "brother" before leaving. I really don't know where her little mind goes, but for some reason she is really hooked on this kid. Of course at the end of her time out she was told that it was ok to be his friend and maybe give him a hug if he wanted one but kissing is out of the question. Apparently she was making a nusance out of herself before that with chasing him around and got spoke to about running. So, of course she was heart broke, she tried to go talk to him before leaving and he wanted nothing to do with her running saying, she tried to kiss me! As we are walking out to the van she starts crying again, this time wanting Daddy and I just simply told her, this is only the beginning my girl, if you are this broke up at 5 I hate to see you at 16! Finally I get her calmed down and she says, tomorrow I have to wear a dress to school so Mitchell will think I am beautiful. OMG!!!! Someone help this child!!! What a mess.

I haven't done much scrapping, lost my touch with it I guess, but I am going to get myself back on track with it soon I hope!

Hope all is well with everyone!
Love ya!

Wow, it's been a month since I have posted anything? Well, just another one of those why blog moments maybe, lol.

Let's see...

Johnny's job is still going well for him. The other day he nearly gave me a heart attack when he texted me that 2 guys got laid off, thankfully he wasn't one of them. My heart goes out to the guys that did get laid off, been there several times but I'm also selfishly thankful that Johnny still has his spot. We also found out that the first job that cancelled him the day before starting is no longer around or is on temporary shut down so I am very thankful that he didn't go there. I told him I think God was definetly lookin out with that one.

Here's a funny, well, not really but it was to me..the other day Maddie was outside playing and all of the sudden she comes in the house crying and yelling, "my butt" "my butt hurts" I was downstairs and yelled, "your butt?" she hysterically is replying "my butt hurts" so I get her to come down for me to check it out and guess what? She got stung in the right buttcheek! Only Maddie would that happen to! To make matters worse while I am trying to help the girl out she is yelling that she wants her Daddy. (Ever since he was off and they were home together I am chopped liver, lol) I got some good advice from some people for the next time though, I was told vinegar gets the sting out immediately and also that taping a penny on the spot draws out the stinger and sting. Not saying I want a repeat anytime soon, any of you that know Maddie KNOW how dramatic the event was for her.

Miss Maddie also has a lovely attitude most days (said in my most sarcastic tone).... I know she isnt perfect but I notice when there are 2 certain kids with her at the sitter she is really rotten. Not to long ago we were telling her to do something and she said, "I don't have to listen to you" and proceeded to give us the thumbs down sign and say "boo to you". Ok, you know my head almost spun of my neck. I know mom, I'm getting what I deserve, LOL.

Another bit of excitement in the last few weeks is the day that I didn't check the oven first and cranked it up to 450 to preheat. Next thing I know I smell something funny and find a fire in the kitchen. Snap! So what do I do in all my sheer brilliance? I open the oven to see how bad it is. Duh! Great thinking genius, expose the fire to all that oxygen. So of course that caused some huge flames to come out ...snap again! So in panic mode I called 911 and went and got Maddie outside. They told me to get everyone out of the house and at this point we were in the garage, so instead of going out the fence to the front what did I do? I drug her through the house to the front door. What the heck???!!?? Now, our road is completly torn up right now with road construction and all I could think of is "how are they going to get here fast with all this stuff?" It wasn't to long before I heard the sirens, 2 trucks, the ambulance, the whole 9 yards. How embarrassing! Thankfully when they went in the oven had done its job and smothered the fire and there was no damage, they put a big fan in the doorway to help clear the smoke out and they were on their way. Of course Maddie was flirting with the firefighters and in between panic mode I was thinking I should go get my camera so I could scrap it. LOL!!!

The other big thing is Maddie will be starting Pre-k this year. The countdown is ON baby!! I'm so excited. She is really ready to be able to blossom and mature and I can't wait to see how school is going to change her.

I haven't done much scrapping for awhile but here I wanted to share what I actually have got done.

That's it for now, hopefully I won't give up on blogging and hopefully the next time I blog will be sooner than later but I can't make any promises! ;0)

What a week so far!

Monday was CRAZY! Work was "ok", got home to discover that we didn't have any mail. With construction going on our road is a "hot mess" as I like to say....you never know what road you can go down and what is open/closed because it changes constantly. Sometimes we can get in our drive without any problems and sometimes I have come home to find the drive blocked, parked a house or so down and walked to the house. Irritating, slightly, big deal? Not really, we expected it, knew it was going to be a rough time until December when the project is completed. BUT, when the whole thing started we were told that it WOULD NOT affect mail delivery. So, after 4 days of no mail I decided to call the post office and ask if I needed to come and get it because of the construction, they said that if the mail box is not easily accessible than they just keep the mail on the truck and try again the next day. I don't get that...but ok. So, I go down to the post office to get my mail and guess what? I can't get it because it is still on the truck. !?!?!??!?! Anger/irritation starting (and mind you the fact that I just finished up 10 days of being on a pretty good dose of Progeseterone doesn't help) and I tell the postoffice how I feel: Pretty much why should I be inconvenienced and have to come and get my mail when I didn't chose to have the road worked on, why can't they change their route to accomodate the construction. You would have thought I asked this guy for his first born child. In fact, he actually said to me "maam, the roads are blocked with construction equipment and everything else" DUH! I let him know he didn't need to tell me about the road blocks because I LIVE on the road but they still need to get the mail to me. It was almost a black out moment where my head just spun and I blasted. He told me I could fill out a hold card so I could come back the NEXT DAY and get my mail. Why should I have to fill out a hold card...and of course I am still flaming mad letting him know how I feel about the situation but I filled out the card and gave it to him stating I hope there is nothing time sensitive in the pile of mail as I stomp out. Really....I'm talking 3 year old moment temper tantrum. I know that I should have control over my temper but sometimes I just can't find the shut off button and my emotions get the best of me, and even though some say it isn't an excuse I do blame the medicine, I've been on it a couple times before and had that same reaction, and was dreading it when I was told I had to take it again. (And I'm sure as my mom is reading this she is thinking, she behaved just like her father would have, shoosh mom!) Ok, so moving on, now I am out in the van and notice that I had a text from Johnny saying where are you and call me. So, I call him only to find out that he is having battery problems and needs me to meet him at a gas station to give him a jump and follow him home to make sure he is going to make it. Yes, you can imagine my reaction....I certainly wasn't thrilled when I found out I had to go all the way back to the area of work to get him, and in rush hour traffic. AGGHHHH, ok, deep breaths, deep breath in, blow the temper out, lol. When we got to Johnny, gave him a jump, he forgot to make sure his car was in the right gear and it lurched a little bit and hit the van. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It was plate to plate and of course it wasn't hard enough to do any damage but it was just another straw on the pile. So...I follow him back home, auto store tests his battery and finds out that its just the connections loose. WOOHOO! First good thing from the day! So back home we come and by that time it was almost 7 and the evening was shot.

Some other good news is that I got the chance to talk to my mom, they told her all her pre-op tests were good to go and that the infection may not be as bad as they originally thought. They wouldn't know for sure until they got in surgery but it would either be the tip of the tibia removed and waiting for the infection to clear before going back and replacing the knee or she could wake up with just the knee replacement. So prayers went into double time that it would be the 2nd option. Not to mention it was hope in a scary situation and Mom could get some good rest before surgery.

Than its Tuesday.....

Right off the bat I was irritated at work when I found a note left for me over something really stupid and I literally almost started crying. Ok, can we say hormones? Sometimes people at work are so stupid and nit picky, if everyone would just do their job would they have time to worry about how a book is arranged? Seriously. Yes, I did get calmed down from that episode but I really had to say a prayer for myself.

I was still mad about the whole mail thing, so I called the city to express my concerns and they confirmed that it was not acceptable for them to not get the mail to our house and I was given a number to a gentleman that is in charge of the project. After I vented my post office experience to him he explained to me that the post office is being a bunch of jerks, they have offered to meet them and discuss options but the post office rep doesn't show up and so its a battle with them also. He reassured me that he would help make sure that our mail was delivered that day but I had to explain to him that it was too late I had already filled out the hold card. So...after work it was another battle with the post office I walk in, not saying a word, handing my license to the same guy I exploded on the day before to get my mail. After he handed me my mail I let him know that I called the city and the project leader and was told that it wasn't acceptable for them not to deliver the mail. He pretty much told me that the city has nothing to do with the post office, so, in other words, "we are the post office and we can do whatever we want". AGGGHHHH!!!! So, another unpleasant experience, I told Johnny that night that I can't go there anymore and fight that fight, its not worth getting heated about and for some reason it just irritates the snot right out of me.

It's also surgery day for mom so I try to call and get some info on her, trying to figure out what time she went in and what time she would be in recovery and transporting to the floor. I called 5 minutes before they received her on the floor so I needed to call back. No biggie, they told me half hour but I know what it is like to get a new patient, have to get report, get them settled, orders clarified, etc etc so I waited almost an hour before calling. The nurse was being vague, which I can understand where she is coming from with the whole hippa thing so I just asked to be transferred to the room. Good news, the infection wasn't as bad as they originally thought, they scraped the tibia and put in a new knee. Praise! Thanks for all of your prayers, they were definetly answered and God's presence is being felt during this time. I did talk to mom today and now its a pain control issue, she is grateful that they didnt have to do what was originally discussed but said the pain was worse than the last time. Of course she's a trooper and says its ok because she would rather deal with the pain than the extensive surgery... so lets all pray about pain control and mending, Mom always bounces back fairly quick so I let's pray this time is no different.

Which brings us to today:

I handled work ok, a hospice nurse irritated me and I snapped at her about something, part of me feels bad but the other part of me really doesn't care. I know, the part of not caring is not good, I have to stay in focus of what is God thinking when He see's me behave that way? I'm sure he is shaking his head saying to himself, what am I going to do with this girl, she is a mess! My censor button really hasn't been working to great, time for me to spend some time in prayer to help me get through this. I often think to myself one day if I leave my current job and run into nurses I have snapped on I am going to be skinned alive!

Tomorrow is my ultrasound, I have to drink 32 ounces of water an hour before the appt so lets pray I don't pee my pants! LOL.

I'm sure my real Dad isn't too thrilled with me either, I forgot to wish him a Happy Birthday or Father's Day with everything that is going on. Oooppss...guess I will call at some point tomorrow, deal with the grief he is going to give me and say better late than never.

Johnny's job is still going great, another praise!

God IS good!

And, a pic of Maddie saying "na na na na na na!"

Stay tuned....

Ewww!

Maddie has a little Dora metal lunch box that she got from Nanna awhile back filled with goodies like pencils, markers, tablets, etc. She keeps saying she is going to take her lunchbox with a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich but I didn't give it any thought. So today she asked for PB&J while she was watching tv in her room. I opened the lunch box only to find an old PB and J sandwhich in it, yuck! It wasn't very old but still nasty, of course she was very upset that I took it because she says it is her lunch for school. LOL! What a mess!

Another pic for you...

Happy Day!

Road construction, yuck!

Over a month ago the Rosehill construction project started, I was not prepared at how much of a hassle it was going to be, ESPECIALLY living on the corner of Rosehill. Every day is a new adventure of figuring out where the road is going to be open, how you are going to get around to places you want to get to and quite a few times I get home and I can't get into the driveway. Is that a big deal? No, but for some reason after a day at work coming home to find out I have to park 2 houses down irritates the snot right out of me. Today I ran out to the store really quick to come home and find strange men running hoses or something like that over the backyard fence to work on what looks like might be something in our backyard and our 2 neighbors. What a mess...and of course Maddie wants to go out and play and I refuse to let her out there with strange men and equipment. My excuse right now is that it rained all night so its wet and I dont want to deal with her getting all muddy and dirty at the moment.

I had good intentions of taking Maddie to VBS today but I woke up thinking, what are they going to do with all the kids, its wet and looks like it could rain again. Than I was getting calls from work because the nurse that said he wanted to work today hadn't showed up yet so finally by 7:30 I knew for sure that I would be home and not rushing around to get ready for work.

Off to work on the never ending "to-do list", its pretty much pointless, Johnny and I said the other day that we get a room looking decent and than cyclone Maddie comes behind and makes it look worse than it was before we touched it!

Leaving you with a pic...

Happy Day!

I am FINALLY starting to feel back to myself, after going to the doc taking care of some "problems" and getting put on medicine I don't feel like a zombie anymore! I actually had enough energy today to volunteer at VBS (and actually enjoy it) have done some laundry, working on tackling the basement, actually getting some things on my to do list taken care of! It feels good to be feeling better but now what excuse am I going to use to avoid cleaning?

Maddie went to vacational bible school today, seemed to have a blast and they put her with the kindergardeners so that was good. I checked on her a couple times, the first time she was playing Simon says and the other was craft time but when she saw me she froze and wouldn't keep participating, I did manage to get a few pics of course!

Johnny's job is still going good..Maddie is still having a hard time adjusting and I have managed to get poison ivy!

Thats it for now!

Hi all!

It's been a long time since I have posted anything...and alot has happened.

Johnny has a job! Tomorrow will be a week of him working and we are ecstatic! So far so good, he doesn't really say much, typical of him.

Maddie is still her sassy self....yesterday at church she kept asking to talk to the Pastor. So, we waited to talk to him and her question was "who do you like better, Superman or Spiderman". LOL! Yes, she really did ask that. No spiritual questions for Miss Maddie, she had other stuff on her mind. Of course when he said he liked Superman better she was a little disappointed, she wanted him to say Spiderman. Oh boy. Don't we all wish that was our biggest worry?

I have 0 energy, trying to put a list together of things I need to MAKE myself get accomplished, hopefully I will be able to accomplish SOMETHING!

I've got some pics to share, just need to get them together and posted.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Love and blessings....

Happy Weekend!

This usually is my weekend to work but I have been doing management stuff this week while one of the nursing managers is on leave--she fell at work and broke her shoulder...OUCH! She looks awful, she fell flat on her face. She is hoping to be back at least part time next week depending on what her doc says. In the meantime I have had a little taste of what it would be like to be a nursing manager, I know its not full on stress like what they have to deal with everyday but so far I am really enjoying the change. I would say that it could be the initiative I need to get back to school for my RN but they are salary positions and sometimes the hours they put in and the check they bring home just doesn't equal out, lol. Anywho, I'm just enjoying an extra weekend off. :0)

Today Nanna and Poppa Richmond are coming for a visit, yay! Maddie is so excited, I wasn't going to tell her, just let her find out when they show up but Daddy told her yesterday to use as amo and that's all I have heard about since than. :0}

I've done a little bit of scrapping, just haven't had any creativeness in me lately but I think it is related to stress so I try to sit in my scrap space at least for a little bit each day to see if I get inspired.

Enjoy your day!

Still praying for good news soon....I think my hair gets grayer by the day and my stress level is through the roof. I cry at the drop of a hat. What a mess.

I have been working on giving Maddie chores, giving her some responsibility around the house. Some things she gets nickels for and other things she has to do for free. One of the best ideas I have come up with so far is giving her 5 nickels at the beginning of "adult" church, she has to pay us a nickel each time we have to tell her to behave until she gets called for children's church and if she doesn't have any nickels at the end she doesn't get her movie at naptime. The first sunday she lost 3 and that was her first time, last Sunday she only lost 1 and the night before she was able to tell me the process and how it works. Yay Maddie! I'm going to leave her a to-do list tomorrow and see how she does with it. She's been pretty good being at home with Daddy.

Here is a challenge that I did for The Scraproom, they are having a free sketch class this month, if you like sketches check it out!

Happy Friday! For those that have the weekend off I'm sure its even better! Yesterday and today were my "weekend" but I'm hoping for a fairly quiet weekend at work. Weekends are usually nice because we don't have all the hustle and bustle of things that happen during the week.

We are still hoping for good news in the job area, I am hoping that May will be a good month for us!

Here's a guy birthday card I made for bil (I'm sure he has received it by now)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wish Johnny luck!

He has an interview today at 1, I'm not sure if he really wanted it broadcasted or not considering the luck he has had so far with not being chosen for his first interview and the second job placed on hold the day before he was going to start but we need all the thoughts, prayers and positive vibes we can get at this point. I think I'm starting to get the same jink fear that you get when you are pregnant, you don't really want to announce things until you are past the "safe" mark but sometimes the excitement just gets to you first. So, I'm hoping I didn't just jinx us, seems like last time that is exactly what happened. I started telling everyone and I was starting to feel less stressed and than bam! The carpet was pulled out from underneath my feet.

Today and tomorrow is my "weekend" ........not sure what I will do with my time, we were going to do a few things today but with the interview being today we are going to bump them to tomorrow. I also need to get my check tomorrow, I could go today but that means sitting through an inservice and I just don't feel like it when I know I can take the make up test and go about my day.

Its wet and chilly here, bummer, that means Maddie will be inside pestering me all day! LOL

Happy Hump Day! ;0)

This is a good wednesday for me because Thursday and Friday is my "weekend". We have some plans to try to take care of a few things and get some assistance but other than that I'm just trying to stay positive hopeful that someone will call soon about a job for Johnny.

A few cards that I made:

Another beautiful day here! Hope all is well wherever you are! :D

I tried something different at church today in regards to trying to get Maddie to sit still. I gave her 5 nickels in the beginning of "adult" church and we explained to her that if we had to tell her to settle down she owed us a nickel, and if she didn't have any nickels left when church was over she wouldn't get to watch her movie at naptime. Whoa, that is serious business to her! So when we picked her up at sunday school we re-explained the deal to her and asked questions to get her to verbalize she understood what the deal was one last time. She did pretty well, she lost 15 cents, 10 of it was before the offering started and the other 5 was waiting for the offereing to finish up and for the kids to be called to Children's church. I tried to add in the whole "giving" concept with her and had her give the 10 cents she lost for behavior to Jesus. I don't think she understood all of it but she knew that by the end of the day when we got home she still had some nickels left and that meant she could have a movie. Her friend Elizabeth was sitting behind us and I know they wanted to sit together but they are super chatty when they sit together so seperation is the key. :D

I'm really lacking energy or ambition today, oh, I just remembered I didn't take my thyroid medicine this morning, oops!

Things to be thankful for:

First --it was a beautiful day today, 81 degrees! Maddie had a blast playing outside all day, minus nap time she lived outside. It amazes me how she can entertain herself with her imagination. She enjoyed her bubbles, planted dandilions in her mudbox (until we get some sand in it, lol) brought me a worm, so much fun for a little girl!

2nd--this is selfish but I found my mp3 player!!! I thought I lost it last weekend and have been tearing up things around here looking for it. Just when I was about to give up and start saving for a new one I found it in a pile of clothes today, yay!!

3rd--I am greatful that our basic needs are met, we have a roof over our head, food for the table and love for each other. We might be behind on things but I have FAITH that God will pull us through this and Johnny will find something soon!

4th--I got some house cleaning and scrapping done today!

Happy Day!

Still no word about the job, the position is still on hold. Everyday gets scarier for me, I can only imagine what hubby feels like. He is still searching and sending resumes out but alot of places are on freezes right now. Please keep up with your good thoughts and prayers that something will come up soon.

I had a horrible panic attack last night. I'm exhausted today. Maddie's behavior is on the fence. I think its just stress.

Hope all is well with everyone, have a great day!

A Maddie funny:

All day today she has been coming up to me and asking "Am I beautiful?" my reply is always, "Of course you are" to which she tilts her head to the side and says "Aww shucks" LOL

Here is a pic I took of Maddie at church on Easter Sunday, taking advantage of all the pretty Lillys on display. I really like how it came out.

Have a great day!

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Well, the good news is the weekend is over, the bad news is I still have to work tomorrow! Today was HORRIBLE!!! I had one of my alzheimer residents grabbing on to me and following me all over the place, getting into my cart when I was trying to crush pills, you name it. Than I had another incident with another one of my people that ended up with me sending him to the hospital and his wife mad at me because I didn't wait for her to call back and give me "permission" to send him out. I pretty much told her its my judgement, I'm not letting him suffer and so I sent him. Next, one of my guys had an incident last night and his roommate was giving me the "low down" on what happened and it wasn't good so I had to write that up. Finally, one of the other nurses and a housekeeper were fighting and I had to monitor the situation until the housekeeping supervisor arrived. GRRRRRRR....I wanted to find someone to work for me soooo bad tomorrow but we know the scoop on that.

Hoping tomorrow is better that is for sure!

From the mouths of babes....

Its not secret that hubby isn't working but we really try not to talk about the stress of it around Maddie, after all, she is a kid and doesn't need to try to deal with adult issues. She isn't dumb though, she's picked up on the fact that Daddy stays home all day and he tells her when he is trying to find a job or going for an interview. With this last fiasco she must have caught a tail end of conversation with me telling hubby to try not to stress out to much, the recruiter didn't say the company was taking the job away all together or didn't want him anymore, just working out a few kinks as to when he can start. In the meantime he is still looking but the problem seems to be with the economy alot of job postings have either been placed on hold or removed. These are things that are out of our control though. We just have to continue to place faith in God that He will direct us and provide for us as he always has. So on to Maddie....for the last few days she has been really focused on the job issue and the other night was walking all around the house "looking for Daddy's job". Of course it does get a little irritating when she keeps asking over and over if the job is still lost, if someone took it or however else she phrases it. I know she's a kid and doesn't know that its irritating a stressful situation but still, shoosh! LOL

I'm trying to get the house under control, decided that if I come home from work and do something before I let myself get lazy and relax for the evening I might have better luck. I'm realizing though that the carpets are in major need of attention, so Tuesday when I am off or the weekend I hope to get around to that.

Its a beautiful day, hubby and Maddie have been outside doing stuff all day. For now I am just trying to let my feet and back recover from work.

Have a great evening!
Love and Blessings!

Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

I have managed to play around a bit, call it a distraction from having a heart attack.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Say a little prayer...

Tomorrow was going to be Johnny's first day at work, was is the key word. Today he got a call from the recruiter saying, I have some good news and bad news. The good news is your drug test came back clean, the bad news is that there seems to have been some confusion with HR and you can't start tomorrow. Are you kidding? Am I stuck in a bad dream? Is this a cruel joke? The recruiter said she doesn't know much information yet herself but that the company seemed to feel pretty confident that he would start next week. It is a combination of paperwork and the fact that they did a massive layoff awhile back and there was some confusion with how many techs could be called back and how many could be hired. So, for now, its back to square one. I just hope that everything comes together soon and we get good news sooner than later. The recruiter never "took" the job away, never said they were taking it away, changing their mind, not going to hire at this time so there is still hope. I just know my fuse is getting short, stress is going to be the death of me. Just when I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel this had to happen. I pray that everyone we owe money to continues to be patient, not as if we have been communicating with them per say but God has helped us this far in my opinion so I'm sure He will continue to guide us and provide us with what we need.

Did I mention tonight will be a Xanax night? I feel the panic attack brewing already.

Thanks in advance for all of your thoughts and prayers.

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
